A.K. Burns and Fia Backström will participate in the Adam McEwen Presents: Exhibition and Sale to Benefit the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, November 29 – December 15, 2018, at Gladstone Gallery in New York City.
FCA's sixteenth benefit exhibition, Adam McEwen Selects:Exhibition and Sale to Benefit the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, opens this Thursday, November 29, 6 to 8 p.m. at Gladstone Gallery, 530 West 21st Street, New York, NY.
As a point of departure for the exhibition, artist Adam McEwen asked FCA co-founder Jasper Johns and board member Glenn Ligon if they might be able to donate studies relating to two specific works: Montez Singing (1989-90) by Johns, and One Black Day (2012) by Ligon. McEwen explains, "I thought of these works as two poles casting out a spectrum of response to the world around us today. They might provide two radiating attitudes, with an intersecting area between them, into which or against which many other kinds of work could be placed."
All works in the exhibition and sale have been donated to FCA by artists, with all proceeds benefiting FCA's grants for individual artists.
